Hi, Iām Jamie Friedrich Ager.
I am a mom, spouse, psychotherapist, and Buddhist priest. As you can imagine, life is full.
As a psychotherapist, I am trained in the tradition of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), founded by Habib Davanloo. I have worked with many teachers and supervisors and continue to seek out opportunities to learn and grow.
I began meditating in 2009, and it rapidly became central in my life. I entered formal Zen training in 2014 at Windhorse Zen Community, with teachers Lawson Sachter and Sunya Kjolhede, in the lineage of Philip Kapleau. My training has included a 2.5 year period of residency at the temple and dozens of sesshin (week-long silent retreats). I made the vocational commitment to be ordained as a priest in this tradition in 2023.
I live with my partner, our school-aged son, and our dogs within the majesty of the ancient Blue Ridge Mountains. I am passionate about inquiring into the human experience both through the practice of directly experiencing and through philosophy.
