Nondual Meditation & Depth Psychology
A Ten-Week Group Inquiry
Description and Outline
In this group experience, we will explore the intersection of nonduality and depth psychology (psychodynamics) with an emphasis on holding paradox and an orientation of unknowing curiosity. Engaging in nondual oriented self-inquiry stirs up deep unconscious dynamics, while at the same time increasing one’s openness and capacity to explore these energies, in the here-and-now, with care and curiosity.
As we mobilize these unconscious dynamic forces through meditation practice, we need the skills to recognize and work with them. Otherwise, we risk replaying our habitual relational patterns within practice, leading to stuck points or, worse, to an intensification of our existing psychological or emotional challenges.
Ignoring or suppressing inner conflicts do not make them go away but instead tend to intensify them, potentially allowing what we avoid to control our lives and behavior outside our awareness. This group is about working together to bring forth and work directly with whatever arises in a spirit of courage and compassion, both cognitively and experientially in the here-and-now.
I aim to not commodify or appropriate Buddhist practices or diminish this tradition into a tool or technique for self-improvement. I believe that widely sharing this kind of practice is an appropriate and necessary element in responding compassionately and skillfully to the collective challenges we face in modernity. My experience has been that heartfelt endeavoring into the intimacy of a nondual, inquiry-based form of meditation practice mobilizes powerful healing energies as it also activates our traumas and habitual relational issues. This group experience is meant to hold all of this with deep respect and care.
